One special markets & boat trip (Coc Ly), 7 villages (Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, Ta Van, Giang Ta Chai, Su Pan, Ban Ho, Trung Do) and 9 different minority peoples (Black H’Mong, Dzay, Red Dao, Flower H’mong, Black Dzao, Tay, Dzay, Ha Nhi and Nung).

NIGHT 01: HANOI – LAO CAI                                                                                                          

Hanoi Tourism’s guide will meet you at your hotel then transfer to Hanoi Railway Station for Lao Cai Province. Lao Cai is one of the several provinces situated on the Sino-Vietnamese borderline. It is in the northwestern part of the country, with some remarkable features such as biologic diversification and typical mountainous climate. Apart from the Kinh people, the province has several ethnic minority groups including the H’mong, the Tay, the Dzao and the Thai people.

DAY 01: SAPA – Y LINH HO – LAO CHAI SAN – LAO CHAI – TA VAN           (B, L, D)

Arriving in Lao Cai Station in the early morning, we will transfer to Sapa via minibus. After that, we will leave the hotel and start trekking. The first part is on the road but we soon turn to the right and walk on a small path down the valley to the Muong Hoa River and from here to the Black H’mong village Lao Chai. View from air, Lao Chai lies in between mountains and grass hills, with houses that look like colossal mushrooms on all sides, at 2,660m above the sea-level. Visitors to the village are able to enjoy the traditional music of boys and girls playing the game ‘hire and seek in a blanket’ and exchange songs overnight even after the festival, the boy can bring the girl they played with to their home and marry her. In this village which you will have a welcome feeling  at any house of the hospitable people there. You can interact with them, learn about their culture and customs.

In the afternoon, we will continue our way to Ta Van Village of the Red Dzao.  Ta Van is a small village set within a picturesque valley of Muong Hoa. Ta Van village is set within a picturesque valley with amazing natural landscape and friendly local people. The area is well-known for its colorful ethnic minorities. Visiting Ta Van Village will be an unforgettable experience, since you will have a chance to witness the special cultural characteristics of local people.

We will have dinner and stay overnight with local families there.

Coc Ly

DAY 02: TA VAN – GIANG TA CHAI – BAN HO                                                     (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will leave Ta Van to visit the Red Dzao people at Giang Ta Chai Village. On the way to Giang Ta Chai, you will have a good chance to trek through bamboo forest and rice fields, to cross the suspension bridge to the other side of the river. Coming here, you will visit a beautiful waterfall, a rattan bridge and you will see the amazing scenery of a remote village.

In the afternoon, we will get off the road to go down hill to Ban Ho Village. Ban Ho is worth the somewhat difficult journey to get there, as the village rewards visitors with stunning views of unspoiled sites and an opportunity to discover the daily activities of the ethnic people Tay. If we reach Ban Ho in the early afternoon, you will have time to swim in a nearby river.

In the evening, we will have dinner with the Tay families in Ban Ho and spend the night there.

DAY 03: BAN HO – SAPA                                                                                            (B, L, D)

You will trek up to Ban Den after breakfast. From here you will be picked up and transferred back to Sapa. In the afternoon, you will have time to experience the colouful Sapa market where women from different ethnic minority groups come into town to sell their products.

Dinner and overnight stay in Sapa.

DAY 04: COC LY (TUESDAY) MARKET                                                                   (B, L, D)

We will leave Sapa for Coc Ly Market in the early morning, at 7.00 am. About 35km from Bac Ha, Coc Ly Market is a colorful Tuesday market in a mountainous area where ethnic people gather to buy and sell goods, dine and drink, or just wander to meet and share joy and sorrows after the crops, to exchange one another’s experience.

After the market, we will get on a boat and move along Chay River. We will be bound to feel great and find yourselves smaller among high Rock Mountains and to be surprised at white and breathtakingly waterfalls. The Fairy Cave is located deeply in the rocks. The get off the boat to visit the Tay Minority in Trung Do Villageby the river. Following the boat trip, we will go to a small town named Bao Nhai, then get back to Lao Cai Station via coach.

Dinner will be served at a local restaurant before you get on the train. We will arrive in Hanoi in the early morning, ending your interesting journey with Hanoi Tourism.

One Day to Explore Sapa Bac Ha Market

Visitors to Sapa should not miss Sapa Bac Ha market, a famous highland market throughout the Northwest region

Along the way, visitors will see the high mountain, the terraced fields and encounter each ethnic group laughing gurglingly and leading horses to market to sell. To keep up with the market, they have to get up early. Even there is someone who starts their journey to market from the previous day.

Previously, Bac Ha market took place on a sloping hill, then this market was built on a concrete floor and divided into sales area so it lost the pristine beauty.


Bac Ha market sells all products of the highlands, the necessary items for the ethnic such as plow, hoe, shovel, knife, fruits, honey..

Booths selling jewelry, dresses, brocade and even attan baskets always attract many tourists. Here, you can optionally select Brocade products, dazzled with the brilliant colors of dresses of Hmong, Dao do.

Foreign tourists often would like to admire the paintings that are hand-woven with vivid motifs, harmonious colors.

For men, Bac Ha market is also a place where they can meet their fiends and drink around the “thang co” pot (large pot).

Tourists to Bac Ha, they are very interested in exploring life and customs of the locals.

The ethnic usually bring baskets of vegetables, potatoes, maize or other crops to sell at Bac Ha market. They also lead the cows, pigs intended to sell in market. The place selling horse always attracts men most, they come from remote villages, even those from the provinces of Bac Giang, Ha Tay..coming here to buy horse.

Sapa Adventure

20.00. Pick up from your hotel in Hanoi to railway station departure for a night train to Lao Cai Railway Station. Overnight on the Train
Day 1: Lao Cai- Sapa Town Hau Thao Village
7.00 Arrive to Lao Cai station. Pick up and transfer to Sapa town, check in the hotel. After breakfast, you will do trekking to Hau Thao village where Black H’mong tribe lives. The trek brings you upper mountain range of Sapa, overlook down to its valley. Our local guide will prepare lunch in a local house while you walk around the village to meet local people and visit catholic church. After lunch the local guide takes you back to Sapa on different way, which goes further to the other side of the mountain. (7hrs trekking 12km. Meals: B/L/D, Accommodation.)
Day 2: Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai Villages
Having breakfast and check out before start. Trekking down to Lao Chai village to visit the Black H’mong. Have a picnic lunch on the way then keep going along the valley to get to Ta Van village to visit the Dzay people live, which supposed to be the most friendly one in mountainous area. The next is Giang Ta Chai village of Red Dzao tribe where you will see the amazing scenery and beautiful waterfall. Home stay in local family. (7hrs trekking 18km. Meals: B/L/D, Home stay. )
Day 3: Giang Ta Chai- Ban Ho Villages – SapaTown
Early breakfast then trek to Ban Ho. You will trek up and down the mountains through a jungle and pass the Muong Hoa River and waterfall. Lunch at Ban Ho village with Tay tribe in their special wooden houses on the stilt will amaze you, let alone the peaceful scenery and friendly people. And the last 45 minutes. Climbing up hill to get the waiting point is really a challenge for you. You get back to Sapa by motorbike/jeep. Dinner and stay in the hotel. ( 5hrs trekking 13km )
Day 4: Sapa- Cat Cat- Sin Chai Villages
Morning is free to explore the town on your own. After lunch you check out and leave your big luggage in the hotel then get yourself ready before heading down to Cat Cat and Sin Chai villages of Black H’mong tribe. Enjoy the waterfall in Cat Cat and beautiful scenery along the way. Back to Sapsa town and take a shower in the hotel before taking the bus to Lao Cai station for the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 1: Hanoi – Sapa by bus with a short trek to Cat Cat village (L)

6.30 – 7.00: Pick up from your hotel/stay, get on big bus and depart for Sapa.

11.00: Second comfort break at Lao Cai city before approaching Sapa

Our local guide will show you the daily life activities of the locals, trek down to the valley bottom to the waterfall where the French built a Hydraulic Power Station; stop for photo with bridge and waterfall then you will walk uphill for bus to pick up to get back to Sapa in the afternoon.

17.00: Come back to Sapa Town. Have dinner and overnight in hotel with night activities.

Day 2: Sapa – Hanoi by bus with a long trek Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van (B/L)

7.00 – 7.45: Have breakfast at hotel and prepare light pack for trekking

8.00: A short drive to Y Linh Ho then trek through the rice terraces and along Muong Hoa Stream to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai to see the spectacular landscape of Hoang Lien Son Mountain after that heading to Ta Van village – home of Dzay ethnic people.

Trekking distance is about 9 kms and it lasts for 3.5 hours

11.30: Bus picks you up at Ta Van Bridge to Sapa.

12.00 – 15.00: Have a shower at hotel, check out and have lunch and time at leisure on your own.

15.00: Meet all group members at hotel to get ready for Hanoi.

15.15: Get on bus to go back to Hanoi with two comfort breaks.

21.15: We say goodbye to you at your hotel/stay. Trip ends.

Thing to bring

Warm clothes, scarf, hat, cap because the weather in Sapa is pretty unpredictable. It is normally cold in September, October, November, December, January, February and March
Due to altitude of Sapa, it is sometimes foggy in December, January, February and March.
Trekking shoes, sun glasses, sun cream, insect repellent are also necessary. You should take cash with you in Vietnam Dong because banking system in Sapa sometimes doesn’t function well. US Dollar, Euro, Australia Dollar are accepted in Sapa.
